“What if…” 30 imaginative kids and a team of amazing artists came together to explore and express the innate creativity that lies within each of us?

“What if…” this unique group collaborated on one-of-a-kind theatrical extravaganza?

Samadhi Hawaii School of Aerial Arts presents “What if…” A Performing Arts Summer Experience * June 4 - June 30 * for kids ages 8 and up.

This unique program involves the collaboration of accomplished artists who will lead participants on a creative journey, exploring aerial arts, acrobatics, theatre, music and dance, culminating in an original stage production.

Program: 8:00am - 12:00pm
Extra Activities: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Final Shows: June 29 & 30

What if.. Staff:

Andrea Torres ( Program Director / Aerial Instructor )
Approaching aerial dance as a fusion of grace and strength, Andrea Torres has brought her dance background to aerials, creating a style that is all her own. She is a pioneer in Aerial Dance in Hawaii and the Founder/ Director of Samadhi Hawaii. As an aerialist, Torres became known for her role as the original Hina- the Goddess in the Moon in Maui’s ‘Ulalena. What if …is the seed of her dream Performing Arts Program., where Circus Arts meets Theatre, Dance and Music.

John Signor ( Musical Director )
John Signor creates music for theatre, dance and film. A graduate of CalArts, Juilliard, the University of Miami and Willamette University, he directed The Liliʻu Project and also served as musical director, composer and sound designer on productions including ʻUlalena, Waikīkī Nei, Naupaka, Hānau ka Moku, Kahekili, Poliʻahu, Kūlanihākoʻi, and Duke. Dr. Signor’s work in children’s theatre includes collaborations with Plaza de la Raza Puppet Theatre (Los Angeles), Theatre Theatre Maui (Lahaina), HTY (Honolulu), The Arts Alliance in Education (Honolulu), and Samadhi Hawaii (Honolulu).

Marcus Quiniones ( Theatre Director )
Marcus has acted and taught at The Guthrie Theater, The Children's Theater Company of Minneapolis, MU Performing Arts, National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (YoungARTS in Miami, Florida), Honolulu Theater for Youth, Monkey Waterfall, Bishop Museum, and Maui Myth and Magic Theater's cirque-inspired production 'Ulalena. His first play Circle Around The Island was remounted in 2007 at The Guthrie Theater’s Dowling Studio in Minneapolis and received an Ivey Award nomination. He attended the two-year pedagogical training program in devised, actor-created theater at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA).

Chris Johnson ( Acro Instructor )
Chris Johnson has been teaching Aerial and Acrobatics at Samadhi Hawaii since 2012. He has enjoyed performing Tissue, Trapeze and Acro in Hawaii and Samoa. Chris loves creating a space for students to learn and explore in a safe and supportive environment. He is a certified AcroYoga Teacher with AcroYoga International.
